About her residency

I’m working on a new work that has its first showing on November 11 at the A Place to Dance Festival in DC.

The work is rooted in the teachings of Kazuo Ohno and is abstract movement working collaboratively with languages and translations, currently American Sign Language and English. I’m thinking I will translate the source teaching into many languages and have the sound score and movement be based off the textures of the translations. I’m collaborating with Aaron Hodges for the sound score.

I’ll also use the residency to have a daily practice of writing dance, using the body to generate text and write in long essay format.

I’m considering bringing a tent with me and settling up a “peace camp” installation for the showing but it might be too many projects at once to include that, we’ll see.
